The place of letters to the mystics and it's effect on Islamic calligraphy.

Abstract

The Iranian art has different courses and in one of these periods, "the mystical period", this art is very influenced by Islamic mysticism. Islamic calligraphy, as the noblest and most sacred art of the Islamic world, is more than any other art associated with Islamic mysticism. And in all its features and content mirrored the mystical symbols and the social influence of the mystics. The inward look and acceptance of spirituality for letters and words in this art are influenced by Islamic mysticism. This research first initially identified three levels in the mystic approach to letters, then, by explaining its Qur'anic origins and its effects on the Islamic calligraphy, shows evidence of this effect. Evidence such as the type of writing of letters and Words, such as "الف", "م", "لا" and "الله" (“La”, “M”, “A” and “Allah”).To show that throughout history there has been a strong link between Islamic mysticism and calligraphy art.
